In a comment on the first post related to the 2009 Evers Reunion, Grace Stutzman mentioned some singers. So it seemed a good idea to make that the subject of the second reunion-related post. (In addition to photos, I plan future posts to include the three poems Celestia Nelson read as well as her recipe for That Corn Dish Which Is Much Commended at various Evers gatherings.)
Before the singers Grace mentioned, we all sang to her in honor of her upcoming 80th birthday. As I recall, it’s sometime this week. (I hope it’s OK to say all that, Grace! If it isn’t, let me know and I’ll doctor this post.) So, here’s the birthday lady, listening as the closing notes waft away into fond memories (or something like that): Oh wait! You’ll have to click here to see the rest of this post.
As we do every first Sunday in August, we got together at the city park in Sheridan, Oregon.
I hope to post over the next few days more of the pictures I took. Here are the first three, all of the clickable for a bigger version.
I hope everybody that was there got their name entered into the official record.
Plenty of good food to eat — thank you!
There’s the place where it happens.
If you were there, I’m glad you were. If you weren’t, maybe you can show up next year. 🙂

What can you tell us about this place and its family connections?

For those of you needing to make the connection, Aunt Ada Stout is actually my wife Ruby (Yoder)’s aunt on her mother’s side, but when I married Ruby, I claimed Ada as my aunt. 🙂
Aunt Ada, it’s up to you to tell us the story behind the above photos.
